Seven Year Existence
Thanks for hitting us up. My name is Jason Ellett and the band name is Seven
Year Existence and we hail from Champaign, IL. We're kinda a combination of old
school thrash meets new school metal and death metal. SYE's line up is Luke
Heppe: lead vocals/guitar, Jason Ellett: lead guitar/vocals, Phil Solgard: bass,
Ben "Wenis" Larson: drums. SYE can be checked out on all the usual channels such
as myspace.com/sevenyearexistence,
reverbnation.com/sevenyearexistence, skullsnbones.com/sevenyearexistence and
twitter.com/7yearexistence. Our music can be purchased on iTunes, Napster,
Rhapsody.
We got our start in 2004. Several member changes later we finally got our shit
together and here we are. In 2005 we released our first full length album
Execute Erase on which we toured nationwide throughout 2006. In late 2007 we
released our EP I of God. We continued to do small tours and opening for
national acts throughout the midwest. We've been writing material for our
upcoming album which hopefully will be done early 2010. We rereleased the I of
God EP with bonus tracks of a few of the songs that will be available on the new
album. With the release of the new music we were able to nail down a spot on the
Smash the Control Machine 2009 tour with Otep and Destrophy.
How did you get your start in music?
I was messing around in a couple of bands, more of a hobby than anything
serious. Then I landed a show that we never should have got and played in front
of 1000 people and been hooked ever since.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
All the old school metal such as Testament, Slayer, Master. I've been really
getting into bands like Arsis, A Breathe Before Surfacing, Faceless, Beneath the
Massacre and much to more to list.
What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?
My biggest inspiration is the fans. The anticipation of the reaction to the
music is second to none. Unless they hate it. But it hasn't happened yet.
Could you give us the details of your current project?
Yes, but then I'd have to kill ya. The new music is much faster and more
aggressive than anything else we've done. We're also getting more technical all
around. We're all pushing each other to play better than ever.
What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your music?
Be able to take it to the next level and get signed.
When the zombies take over the world where will you be?
Leading an elite task force slaughtering zombies.
Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
Gonna have to go with vampire jedi. Just because.
What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture,
do you think people must experience before they die?
Breakfast of Champions is a must see?
Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?
I used to be a nationally ranked tenis player.
