How did you get your start in music?

I started learning music when I was 10 years old. Piano lessons were first, and then a few years later I also picked up the guitar. I studied music in college, and immediately after that I started performing in bands.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

My main influences are Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Beck, and Phish

What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?

Music itself is what inspires me. Two people that speak different languages might have a hard time verbally communicating. But through music, they can connect very powerfully. I think that’s incredible.

Could you give us the details of your current project?

I will always be writing and releasing solo music. But I also have a new collaboration with a singer/songwriter called Golden Estella. She sends me her demos, and then I write more music for them, and produce them. It’s a blend of electronic and organic sounds.

What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your music?

I am really interested in writing music for film. But just having some of my songs in movies would be really cool too.

When the zombies take over the world where will you be?

I’ll be playing my guitar on a mountain top in Mexico, with a bottle of really fine anejo tequila.

Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?

Jedi

What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture, do you think people must experience before they die?

The 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Waldstein Sonata (Opus 53)

Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?

I have never seen a single episode of American Idol.
