Interview questions
How did you get your start in writing?
My first attempts at writing were song lyrics and poetry. I loved telling stories even in my songs. From there I wrote short stories and learned more about the craft of writing and I wrote my first novel in about 2001.
who are your biggest influences I was an avid reader from the age of four. My favorite books were either historicals or had paranormal elements. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Ann Rice, Morgan Llewelyn, Evangeline Walton, Mary Stewart, Juliet Marillier and Jack Whyte. I am heavily influenced by the Irish myths of the Tuatha de Danaan and the stories of the Irish Fianna.

What is your biggest inspiration when creating? I am inspired by the ancient Celts because they are mysterious and linked to the faery realm. I am inspired by history. My favorite time periods are ancient times and the Dark Ages. I love to breathe life into the past.

Could you give us the details of your current project? Beltaine's Song is the second book in my Dark Goddess trilogy. Set in sixth century Scotland, this trilogy revolves around the intertwined destinies of an Irish clan and an ancient goddess. I mix history with fantasy. My hero is based on an actual Irish warlord and I weave in bits of Irish myth. I have this theme throughout this book that while spring brings about new life, it also brings the harsh sound of the battle horn because spring is when the clans battled.
I am also finalizing the third book in this trilogy called Winter's Requiem, which might be out later in 2010 or early 2011.

What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your writing? My goal is to write faster--to be able to crank out at least two books a year.

Final four (questions we ask all interviewees)

When the zombies take over the world where will you be?

Hiding  LOL Zombies scare me, especially the ones from the original Night of the Living Dead.

Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?

Vampire. I always wanted to have fangs. Although those Spartans from 300 were pretty hot.

What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture, do you think people must experience before they die?

I just saw the new 3D version of Avatar and I am hooked on that technology. Wow. It was like being right in the movie and experiencing it all.

Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?

Once upon a time I was a Metal Maiden.
