current project
Songs from the End of the Rope… we’re also working on a new record, which should
be out some time in 2010

interpunk.com. itunes, amazon, target, horrorstore.us,… and all kinds of other
fine retailers
How did you get your start in music?
Brent: Probably just in school, the cheesy grade school music
class......tambourine, wood block, ukulele, hot crossed buns, Mary had a little
lamb.....thing. My dad had a pretty beat up piano, and nylon string guitar I
became obsessed with at a young age. I bought my first electric guitar when I
was 12 with lawn mowing money, and the rest is history
Dustin: I originally wanted to be a drummer. Since I had no drums, I utilized
many common kitchen items for percussive purposes. Unfortunately, a lack of
rhythm coupled with a crippling coordination deficiency has been a major
obstacle on the road to realizing this impossible dream.
who are your biggest musical influences
Brent: My roots are in old punk rock music -Subhumans, dead Kennedy's, Minor
Threat, circle jerks, etc. I really like jazz and old dirty delta blues is
amazing. Being an audio engineer I feel like I have to listen to pop music for
the mixes but I do not enjoy it so much. Lately my favorites that never leave
the turntable are Tom Waits, Queen, The Real McKenzies, and Blood for Blood
Dustin: Tom Waits, Screamin Jay Hawkins, David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, Al Bowlly
Danny Elfman, Ludwig Van Beethoven, The Cure… everything I listen to makes it’s
way into our songs.
What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?
Brent: Just being alone with my thoughts really. Undoubtedly everything I listen
to influences what comes out. I just sit down in the studio have a couple brews
and what happens happens, I don't really know where it comes from.
Dustin: Revenge, spite, mountains and mountains of filthy dirty money, my
enormous ego, and kittens.
Could you give us the details of your current project.
Brent: Were focusing more on traditional instruments right now (accordion,
banjo, piano, organ, Gregorian chanty vocals, cups of water....etc.) We have
some more of the same rock, more gruesome boys stuff coming up soon, to even out
the record, but trying to get away from the classic 4 piece rock thing seeing as
we are now a two piece. We are recording a studio record, just two of us, with
30 different utensils, do the math......it’s a process. We are having a blast,
but taking our time to really fine tune it.
Dustin: Blood on the decks of the Demeter - rabid crocodiles - the horror of
love – the loveliness of the horrific - unrelenting madness - wicked, wicked
women – demon rum – burning effigies – sideshow performers – gypsy surgeons –
high sea adventure - banjo, accordion, and glasses of water… and taffeta,
Sweetheart.
What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your music?
Brent: I'd just like to produce something that Dustin and I are really proud of,
something we both listen to regularly. We are both really humble people with our
music, but picky at the same time. If we can come to a common ground and have
something we both say "yep that's amazing" I'd be happy. Fuck what everyone else
thinks, we know what we are trying to achieve, it just hasn't been put to tape
yet.
Dustin: I’d like to complete the record and get it on its way to that CD
swallowing vortex under the passenger seat of your car.
final four
When the zombies take over the world where will you be?
Brent: I'd like to say I'd be bared in a room with supplies, ammo, my double
barreled talisman, all that tough guy shit, but probably get bitten quick and be
after you. You ever see the hero's of a zombie flick have to make a beer and
smokes run? I'm done for.
Dustin: Given the choice between the two Hepburns, I’d have to go with
Katharine. I think Audrey’s mark on the world can be summed up by the real
estate that her visage occupies on the bedroom walls of awkward, slightly
overweight, teenage drama students world wide. Katharine, on the other hand, is
a national treasure. Have you ever seen Bringing up Baby?
Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
Brent: All glorious trades if you like killing whomp rats or sex with fellow
ship mates, but none of thee above, please. "Lonely Alcoholic".........I'm
listening
Dustin: There, wolf. There, castle…. I’m more of an invisible man type of
feller.
What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture, do you think people
must experience before they die?
Brent: Bruegel, The Triumph of Death (painting)
Gave me nightmares as a kid
Dustin: Hal Ashby’s eternal classic Harold and Maude.
Give one fact that most people would not believe about
you?
Brent: I've got 29 kids all named Jerome
Dustin: I’m Batman
