Interview questions

How did you get your start in writing?

I started writing early in life, at about seven or eight years of age. I was encouraged by my school teachers to keep writing and to explore my potential. I owe my teachers a great deal for helping me become the writer I am today.
who are your biggest influences:

Other authors and their works. Steven Barnes, Piers Anthony, Terry Brooks, Stephen Donaldson, just to name a few. The journey toward understanding the writer inside of me, and ultimately coming up with my own unique writing style was influenced largely by the books I read. In many ways, the books I read are my mentors. They taught me the things a serious writer needs to know about the craft: tone, pacing, character development, etc. I'm a hands on kind of person, and it's one thing for a person to say you need create interesting characters, and another to actually see (by reading) an author develop such a character before your eyes.

What is your biggest inspiration when creating?

The challenge of creating a constant sense of wonder in the mind of the reader.

Could you give us the details of your current project?

My current project is the second novel in the Taren series, and it takes up where my first novel left off. At the eve of a great war, Rayna Powell, the protagonist has the daunting task of leading a small group of unlikely heroes across the Band, and into uncharted land in hopes of finding a way to save Taren from destruction. I'm in the early stages of creating the story at this point, so any specific detail is subject to change.

What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your writing?

To finish my first trilogy.

Final four (questions we ask all interviewees)

When the zombies take over the world where will you be?

In a remote cabin near the top of some treacherous mountain, as zombies aren't known for their mountain climbing skills.

Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
A vampire Spartan with ninja training.

What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture, do you think people must experience before they die?

Watch a good Broadway play from the front row.
Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?

Some of my favorite music has no words.
