National Lampoon Press Sets Spring 2007 List
Headlined for the first time by tie-ins to the legendary movies National
Lampoon's Animal House and National Lampoon's Van Wilder, National Lampoon Press
unveiled today its Spring 2007 title list.
Entering its second year of operation, National Lampoon Press is the in-house
publishing unit of National Lampoon Inc. (AMEX:NLN), the most widely recognized
brand in comedy.
The biggest name in humor will publish four original titles over the course of
the next four months with hilarious takes on self-help, domestic travel,
graduating college and more. The 2007 spring titles follow the four original
books National Lampoon Press published in 2006, which included the best-selling
humor volume Jokes Jokes Jokes.
2007's spring titles consist of National Lampoon Van Wilder Guide to Graduating
College (April), National Lampoon Help (June), National Lampoon Road Trip USA
(June) and National Lampoon Animal House 29th Anniversary Edition (June).
"Given the success of last year's releases we are confident that these titles
will be great additions to the National Lampoon Press catalog," said National
Lampoon vice-president Marcy Goot. "The material in these books is perfect for
fans of National Lampoon young and old. Whether you are about to venture off to
college or embark on a mid-life voyage of self-discovery you'll want to do it
with a National Lampoon book tucked under your arm."
With a cult following of millions Van Wilder gave life to one of National
Lampoon's most beloved characters since Bluto Blutarsky, so it seemed only
natural to bestow upon him the honor he deserves by enshrining him in the
hallowed canons of American literature. National Lampoon Van Wilder's Guide to
Graduating College in Eight Years or More offers unparalleled advice and
experience from a Lampoon favorite on seminal issues such as appropriate attire
for streaking, impressing a date on ten dollars and health food shopping at
7-Eleven. This book is not for those asking how to get into college but for
those who want to know how to do it properly. The title also includes a national
party school ranking guide, extracts from the Ask Van college newspaper column
and a comprehensive dossier of Van's college application, transcripts and
disciplinary records. If you thought graduating in three years was tough, try
seeing what it takes to graduate in ten! Publishes April 2007.
National Lampoon's Help! is really self-help for the selfish helpless. A parody
on contemporary culture's willingness to buy into modern miracle workers who can
remove all of life's problems, but only if you smile with them, the title offers
answers to monumental questions like: At what age do I have to leave home? Which
diets involve McDonalds? Is work really necessary? Each chapter explores a
different vulnerability: Finance, Sex, Dating, Emotional Health, College,
Spiritual Awakening, Death and more. You can rely on National Lampoon's Help for
practical, but painless advice. Publishes June 2007.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of National Lampoon Vacation, National Lampoon
Road Trip is a rough guide to all the locations the Griswald clan would have,
should have, might have visited. National Lampoon Road Trip takes you on a
journey to discover the heart of this nation and in doing so reveals oddities,
ironies and downright insanities that are comedy gold. Designed as a travel
guide the book includes maps and narrative to some of the funniest and strangest
destinations the USA has to offer. Publishes June 2007.
The greatest college comedy of all time is back in book form for the first time
in nearly three decades. National Lampoon's Animal House co-writer and National
Lampoon Magazine legend Chris Miller will take you back inside the hallowed
walls of the Delta House with this full color special edition of National
Lampoon's Animal House, the illustrated novel. The title will give you the real
story on Rush Week and the Homecoming Parade with Bluto, Otter and the rest of
the gang. The novelization includes dialogue from the movie, full-color art,
stills from the film and behind the scenes photos of the cast in action. The
book also includes extracts from the Faber 'Orientation Booklet' and new
introductions from National Lampoon founder Matty Simmons and director Ivan
Reitman.
